Black Tape EP - Recording sessions

Yesterday we recorded some guitars for one of the covers we are working on. As you may notice from one of the pictures below, the song is “Russia” from “As one aflame laid bare by desire” by Black Tape For A Blue Girl. It’s one of my favourite tracks from the huge Black Tape repertoire.

The structure is simple, the overall mood is very intense and powerful,
the vocal line is complex and beautiful as only vocals by Oscar Herrera are/were.

In the process of making our version of the song we probably turned the power into a more intimate feeling, making the mood  closer to our style.

I think we are doing a good work and we hope you will like it.

Federico

New EP + New Member

“Silent we have been, for all these years” but finally the time has come: “All My Faith Lost …” back at work!
After some years of halt we have managed to rearrange our studio and we are ready to start recording.

We have a lot of projects to think about and we are sure that the first one will make our fans happy and “Black Tape For A Blue Girl” fans happy too. In fact we’re about to put together an Ep of Black Tape covers.

It started all when Sam Rosenthal at Projekt Records asked us to record a cover version of one of the songs of The Rope (Black Tape’s first album).
We recorded “The Rope” and that song eventually appeared on the bonus disc of “The Rope 25th Anniversary edition”. During that period we recorded another song by Black Tape too. It was just for fun but we sent it to Sam just for letting him know what we did with another of his songs. Fortunately he did not get back to us yelling “What the hell did you do to my song?” … he was very happy with the result instead. Eventually he asked us to record some other songs for a digital EP.
So here we are! We are sure we’ll have fun making our versions of some other songs by one of our favourite bands.

We’re very excited to start recording again for another reason too: we have a new member in the band.
His name is Angelo Roccagli, he runs Black Reflection Media (go check his great artworks) and more than anything else he’s a great guitar player and composer! Give him a shout on his facebook page!

We are happy to welcome him and we are sure that together our great violinist Fabio Polo (say hello to him too here facebook and here > twitter ) we will create stunning new stuff for you!

We have a lot of news to tell you but we don’t want to unveil everything now, so be patient and follow us on tumblr and twitter, our website is really out of date by now, sooner or later we’ll fix that too.

Remember our bandcamp page where you can find our music for free to stream.

If you want to help us feel free to buy some of our music too. We really need your support now!

Thanks and keep in touch!

Decade EP

We sometimes feel that our Ep Decade is perceived as a minor work of all my faith lost …

Maybe because it was not released by Cold Meat Industry or Projekt Records, it has received less reviews and it did not have a widspread distribuition.

We are very sorry about this because we think that Decade is a great work, a beautiful short album that deserves more attention by fans.

It contains some of the best songs we’ve ever written (Drowning - Damnation - Still) and also the short passages between the main songs are small compositions that should absolutely not to be taken as mere fillers!

We would suggest you to take some time for listening to the full album here > http://allmyfaithlost.bandcamp.com/album/decade
and we are sure you will like it.
We just received some physical copies last week, so if you like Decade, you can also purchase it.

Tell us what you think about Decade, we’ll love to hear from you.

Digital is the new way (… sad but true)

We all know that the digital download is slowly (not too slowly actually) killing CDs. We accept it but we don’t like it.
Not because we can’t understand the ease of the digital download, the simply steps we (the artists) make to upload a song or an album for your listening pleasure. It’s just because we love holding music in our hands, we love booklets, digipacks and yes, we love also jewelcases … you know that plastic case? that one that sooner or later will be broken? Yes, that one!
Unfortunately, there is no reason to believe that CDs will be around forever (not in the way they are used to). Probably they will become a collectible item or something similar.
Don’t worry, I am not saying we will not release our music on CD anymore. I am just thinking that we must pay attention to the choices of our listeners and fans.

So, I would like to suggest you a couple of way to listen and download our music. I am not considering iTunes here, because I think you already know it.
I am talking about Soundcloud and Bandcamp. They are great online presences for musicians and a great resource for fans.

Souncloud is more oriented to promotion. Artists can upload their music and share it with other artists on Soundcloud and with other social networks using a lot of tools.
Soundcloud is also very interesting because there are several apps (apple, android) you can use for recording music and uploading straight to your profile
This is our profile on Soundcloud.

Bandcamp is a must have for every band. You can easily build your page, upload your albums, set your selling price and you are done: your music is ready to be downloaded by fans. The best part is that all the money goes straight to artists’ pockets (just a small fee goes to Bandcamp for the service) and that fans can decide what kind of file to download. If they want to dowload a .wav file and then burn a CD (I know it sounds weird, I know … ) they can do it!
Bandcamp offers several tools  and you can sell real CDs and other merchandise too. Bands can also decide to offer free music like we did here or like Black Tape For A Blue Girl did here.Bands can set any price and can also let fans decide the price to pay.

A lot or artist and labels  are on Bandcamp now and more and more great artists are signing up lately.
As I mentioned before there are Black Tape, Marissa Nadler, Rivulets and of course Amanda Palmer that was one of the first artists to make a big step from a big label to releasing albums via Bandcamp.

Recently Fan Profiles are available at Bandcamp, with a set of features that allow fans to showcase thir Bandcamp music collections, follow their favorite artists, explore the music of like-minded fans, add items to a wishlists, and more. Look at the profile of one of our best fans.

So what are you waiting for? Click the link and download our free compilation but remember that artists without your support have no power so think about making a donation, buying another album or if you really  have no money to make a lot of promotion.

all the best,

federico / all my faith lost …

(sorry for all the mistakes and wrong English grammar :)
